The amount of energy that is necessary to run the algorithms on digital assets like Bitcoin have a significant environmental imprint. The environmental implications of this technology and to regulate digital currency enterprises may not only harm the environment, but may also deter future digital currencies from taking efforts to minimize their energy usage and carbon emissions.
